I love taking photos. Something about the way you can capture a moment and the light in it- fascinates me. For my thesis project at ITP-NYU masters program, I replicated scenes that I was attracted to their light, I 3d scanned the scene and 3d print it, and finally attached a light components in them.

One of the big challenges in this project was the research of which scenes I would choose to communicate this moment, or this presentation of light that worth capturing. I had few ideas but I went out to the streets to wonder around bodegas that open all night, movie theaters with people looking at their phones, moments that light play the main role.

At "Nightlight", a project I made in my second semester at ITP, was also a light sculpture, featuring a teenage girl sitting on her bad with her computer, as the last thing she's doing before going to sleep.

This time, two semesters after, I had the ability to create much more details in the print and use other sources that will mimic the light in the scene.

Light Scapes is a neon sign that washes the street in pink light, a television that unites people around its glow, and a man opening a fridge in the middle of the night. All three sculptures seated on a pedestal, so you can watch it all around. It's shown lower than an average person height so you can lean in and watch it as a miniature of a scene that might be familiar to you.
You can watch my presentation at the ITP thesis week to hear more about this project:
